Things That Are Annoying Me Today...
Nov. 17th, 2004 01:23 pmI'm not usually grumpy, but today there's a couple of things that are tap dancing on my last nerve, and I figure if I vent here, I may actually feel better. So here goes...
What's Pissing Me Off Lately:
1. Drama/Depression Queens: These are friends who act like all their troubles are much worse than yours no matter what. And when you try to cheer them up or offer help/advice they act like you're a naive little kid who can't possibly help them with their "real adult" problems. It gets real old real quick when you realize that maybe your pals LIKE to be depressed and complain all the time.
2. Disappointing meals: Today I was enjoying a nice clam chowder and then all of a sudden I get nothing but spoonfuls of sandy/grainy liquid. And last weekend I had a Thai salad only to see an inch worm crawl off my lettuce onto the table. yuck...
3. Bad Drivers: I don't understand why people often feel like they need to cut me off because they can't stand to be passed on the freeway by a girl driving a dainty green VW Beetle. Of course, right after the cut off they proceed to go slower so I have to pull a Daisy Duke to get around them again.
4. Bitchy Drivers: These are the drivers who give me weird or snobby looks in traffic as I sing in my car. Get over it! I'm commuting 2 hours a day, so I might as well enjoy my trapped existence and happily sing "The Safety Dance." Right?

5. Being overwhelmed at work: I can do more than the average worker bee. But sometimes I feel like I could use some extra help, but no one is offering. I dunno. I'm grateful for my job...but I'm starting to burn out. I just wish sometimes that I felt like people are work were grateful for me and the effort I put into my job. *shrug*
6. Guilt Trips: If you want to stay my pal, or at least ever have me return your calls, don't give me some high-pressure comment about how I'm not living up to your expectations as a friend because I don't agree with everything you say or do.
7. Loud talkers: I don't know what it is with me lately, but people who talk a couple of decibels louder than the rest of us are making me long for a human mute button. My grandma used to say, "If you have to shout to be heard chances are no one is interested in what you have to say." So true.
8. Lunch thieves: At work someone felt compelled to steal my Odwalla Strawberry
C-Monster. At $3.50 a pop, these aren't cheap. And I'm pissed that even in such a distinguished workplace, people still act like jerks and steal other people's lunch for the kitchen fridge. Lame. Perhaps I should start poisoning my juice as a decoy to see who's doing it.
9. Laziness: This one iis all my fault. I've set three major goals this year and didn't meet one of them. Write a book -- nope. Write freelance articles for ReadyMade, Giant Robot and other magazines I love -- nope. Save up enough money to put away for my own apatrment bigger than a studio -- nope.
