Since I have a ginormous ego, whenever someone says something nice about me, I feel compelled to repeat it...LOUDLY.

When comic book artist and writer Otis Frampton emailed me today to let me know that he used some of my Comic-Con photos I sent him for his blog, I wandered over to have a look, and low and behold there was a nice bit all about me... and my wit!

See for yourself here:

I spotted Bonnie Burton approach the booth, look around and then walk away. She may have been looking for me and not seen that I was standing nearby, but she could have just been looking for Javier (one can dream of having a fan-base, eh?). I managed to catch up with her this time, after missing her at Hennessy's, and we talked for a bit. As I said, I had been looking forward to meeting her, and she didn't disappoint. The personality she projects through her website and blog is exactly what you get in person; quirkly, intelligent and with a biting wit. I definitely dig Bonnie.

Awww. I was pretty out of it most of Comic-Con -- trying to get things done for starwars.com, and taking what felt like endless photos of people in costume, Star Wars actors and the like. So I'm fairly shocked I made such a good first impression.

I had "met" Otis online previously when I was asking him if we could profile him on our Artist Series on starwars.com, and I'm a big fan of his art style.

In fact, when we met he was nice enough to hand me a sketch card of George Lucas. I told him in my usual sarcastic way that I'd show it to George. But of course I never have any contact with the man (how do you think I've kept my job for so long?). I do occasionally see George in the lunchline -- so I should probably bring that card to lunch with me every day.

At any rate, I was flattered that Otis wrote such a nice passage about hanging out with me at Comic-Con, which included a rather pointless attendance at the "How to Pitch an Animated Series" panel where most of the audience was there to sit in an air-conditioned room, than actually take notes about how to pitch a series. Granted, it was a rather disheartening discussion about how Nickelodeon, Fox Kids, Cartoon Network and Disney won't really look at your stuff unless you have an agent and a real resume. So I'm pretty sure that dashed the hopes of the 16-year-old in the audience who wanted to do some sort of pirate adventure involving marshallow peeps. My pitch idea, however, was pure genius.

So please be sure to check out Otis' awesome comic series Oddly Normal
and his ultra-cool collectible Star Wars Artist Sketch Cards from Topps. And don't be surprised if you see him featured real soon on starwars.com.
