As some of you know, I have a side interest in taxidermy. No, I don't go around searching for roadkill to decorate my bedroom. But let's just say seeing a stuffed squirrel wearing a hunter's vest really warms my heart. And yes, I'll probably buy it.
So you can imagine how excited I was when I learned that you don't have to be a creepy Ed Gein type to like taxidermy. Case in point -- the legendary taxidermist Walter Potter. He had one of the best Victorian collections of dressed-up stuffed animals in little displays! Instead of the usual -- bear attack or moose head mounts -- he had the kind of taxidermy that made you want to play with them, or gaze at them in awe.
Guinea pigs playing cricket...
Squirrels smoking a few cigars at a dinner club...
Rabbit students sitting at their desks...
Kittens getting married....
Potter was a genius I tell you... a genius!
