Tune into Food Network's "Ace of Cakes" and you might catch rock star pastry chef Duff Goldman and his team at Charm City Cakes creating culinary masterpieces that would even get Vader to remark, "Impressive. Most impressive." He and his team bake and decorate impressive edible creations including both a Death Star and a Star Destroyer cakes that could double as ILM models.
StarWars.com's Bonnie Burton chats with Goldman about his rise from a graffiti artist to a master pastry chef, as well as a closer look at his drool-inducing Star Wars confections.
What was the backstory behind making the Death Star and the Star Destroyer cakes?
Those cakes were for this customer who's a big Star Wars fan. In fact, she recently ordered a cake that's of Han Solo frozen in carbonite. There's a lot of us here who are complete Star Wars freaks. I always thought it would be fun to do a cake of a tauntaun on its side and Luke inside him sleeping. [laughs] We've also never had the chance to do a Star Wars-themed wedding cake.
