VENUS ZINE SEEKS FREELANCE SECTION EDITOR
Venus Zine, the internationally distributed magazine about women in music, DIY culture, film, fashion, and art seeks an energetic candidate to edit the Up Front section of the magazine on a quarterly basis.
The Up Front section is usually seven to 10 pages per issue and includes short, to-the-point stories about women in the arts, politics, business, fashion, etc. The Up Front editor is in charge of developing and executing regular concept pieces such as "Record Shopping With [insert band name here]," "Scene & Unheard," "Down To Business," and "Whatcha Watchin." The Up Front editor also generates coverage of short blurbs and news-feature items. The Up Front editor is responsible for writing approximately half of the section's content and will oversee a team of freelance writers who will write the rest of the section.
We are seeking an experienced writer-editor who stays on top of music, trends, events, culture, and offbeat news topics. Candidates must be skilled, deadline-oriented editors and communicators. This is a freelance position. Candidate must have a reliable computer with Internet connection and must be able to check e-mail on a nearly daily basis.
