Zac Efron Shows Off His Lightsaber Skills

Last year we reported about actor Zac Efron's epic lightsaber battle in his new movie 17 Again. With the movie hitting theaters this weekend, Zac and his castmates have been talking in their round of press junkets about how much fun it was to wield a lightsaber in the film.

Here's a selection of some interviews where Zac talks about his love for Star Wars and his Jedi training for the film.

In this video interview with AmericanSuperstarTV, Zac talks about wanting to do a lightsaber battle on film since he was a kid.
Did you ever think you'd be a Jedi Master?

Zac: (laughs) That was another fun thing in the movie. I've wanted to do a legit lightsaber fight since I was 10 years old. And finally at 21, we made it happen. That's as close as I'm gonna get.

From the same fan who brought us Star Wars as Dallas comes another excellent TV intro mashup. This time it's Macgyver! Will Luke blow up the Death Star using chewing gum and a drinking straw? We may never know.

Can't get enough Star Wars TV intro mashups? Good! Because here's a couple more gems from the same fan who made Star Wars as Macgyver and Star Wars as Dallas.

This time around it's Star Wars reimagined as the '80s hit Airwolf. There's two to choose from — one for Rebels and one for the Imperials. I have to say the theme song plus ship blueprints are spot on. Most impressive. We want more!

Clone Trooper Latte?

Check out this billboard for McDonald's new specialty coffee drinks, which include the McCafe Latte. Maybe we just have Star Wars on the brain too much, but we can't be the only ones who see a clone trooper helmet in the foam, can we?

I'm lovin' it!

I Wanna Be Your Sith Lord? Sci-Fi Disco!

What is it about sci-fi and disco/techno that make them go so well together? In this 1981 video to "I Wanna Be Your Lover (Discoring)" by Italian disco sensation La Bionda -- brothers Carmelo and Michelangelo play dueling keyboards while wearing matching glowy white outfits.

However, the real gem of this video is the animated film playing in the background featuring the brothers battling flying space cats and a certain villian who looks like a giant robotic Darth Vader wielding a lightsaber -- all so they can catch the eye of a ghostly lady in white. Plus, the song is downright catchy. I have a feeling Gary Neuman would be proud.

It ain't over til the Fat Lady sings...with a lightsaber!

If you prefer your opera to be less classical and more like Fifth Element, you might appreciate LA Opera's production of Richard Wagner's Die Walküre. This unique production uses props made of neon tubes which end up looking a lot like lightsabers.

Here's a sum-up from a review by BeautifulDecay.com:
As you can see, this rendition of the opera kinda looks like what would happen if Clive Barker and George Lucas joined Heavens Gate. Neon, crazy costumes, smoke machines, these are all the makings of an entertaining night at the opera. There was even a mesh screen covering the stage that displayed projections during the performance.

The great thing about this show was that the reason people attended this show, for the timeless score and story of the Valkyrie, remained untouched, and is just as phenomenal as it must’ve been at its 1870 inception.
