Persephone's Bees Buzzing with Droids

When Persephone's Bees drummer Paul Bertolino found himself lost in a galaxy full of bounty hunters, droids and stormtroopers on the big screen, it was his destiny to one day become a protocol droid himself.
"On Halloween in 1978, I dressed as C-3PO," Bertolino smiles. "It was one of those classic '70s store-bought Ben Cooper costumes consisting of a thin plastic mask, with a rubber band and the eyes cut out, and a dorky outfit complete with a cartoon image of Threepio on the front."
Dressing as Goldenrod was only the beginning of Bertolino's fandom. At a young age, it seemed he coveted every Star Wars action figure in sight. "I was way into the toys!" Bertolino says. "I remember one afternoon seeing a TV commercial for the 'Early Bird' action figure kit, which completely blew my mind! I was at that perfect age where Star Wars toys were pretty much the greatest things ever. Unfortunately, it was quite a while (at least it seemed like forever) before I was able to actually acquire any Star Wars figures. They didn't hit the stores right away, and once they were out they were still very tough to get. Stores would sell out instantly. I was mesmerized by these things!"
