Skeleton Key: A benefit for the WM3

Tomorrow there is a benefit in San Francisco called Skeleton Key to help support the legal funds for the West Memphis 3.
If you're unfamiliar with the WM3 you can read about the back story on their website. This is a story of three kids being railroaded by justice for being different in their community. They were sent to jail for their entire lives when they should have walked with a mistrial. Damien Echols is currently awaiting death by lethal injection.
The lineup of artists is phenomenal. It's for a very noble cause and it's one of those events that you really shouldn't miss. The lineup of artists is phenomenal. It's for a very noble cause and it's one of those events that you really shouldn't miss.

What's perhaps most important is that Damien Echols' art will be shown for the first time. His poems will be read by the artists who have come forward to support him.
While in prison he is not allowed to have art supplies. He's making his work from the things he's found in prison; things like magazines, coffee, found papers. Art of a person entirely untouched by technology, a person who hasn't ever used the internet or compact discs and while sitting on Death Row.
As this is a benefit, art will be auctioned for their legal defense fund. This includes art by Damien Echols' himself. Please go and support the WM3.
Gallery opens for showing 12noon on Friday May 12th.
Reception: 6PM to 2AM
Reception admission: $15 minimum donation
Advanced tickets are available via TicketWeb ( Direct link here: ticketweb.com)
Address: 111 Minna Street, SF (@ New Montgomery & 2nd Streets)
Phone: 415-974-1719
If you're unable to make it and you're still interested in supporting Damien, perhaps you would send him a book. Or support the WM3 by acquiring a shirt. Perhaps even consider writing a letter.
Read more about it on Laughing Squid and on SF Metblogs.
