Actor/Improv Comedian/ and my new hero Stephen Colbert gave a routine at Saturday night's White House Press Corps dinner that got more gasps than claps. Why? Because he roasted President Bush (noas well as all his supporters) in front of all the White House press. It was magical.
I don't think the Prez actually knows that Colbert is in real life a liberal Democrat comedian making fun of the President and everyone who supports him through his improv character. Colbert spoke as his talk show character, who ironically and fanatically supports the president strongly, urged the Bush to ignore his low approval ratings, saying they were based on reality, "and reality has a well-known liberal bias." Ouch.
If you've seen the show, you'll understand. But I guarantee you the Prez hasn't seen it and man did HE look confused. Half the audience didn't know whether they should laugh and clap or sit still and pretend they didn't hear the burns and jabs Colbert delivered to the President's face! Seriously....I'd pay good money to see this live.
I hope Colbert lives through the week.
