It pays to dispute your credit report... and pray.

So remember when I innocently requested my credit report from Equifax only to find out that my credit FICO number was 684 which is considered "Fair" credit all because of a fraudulent charge that was resolved on my Citibank Credit card 2 years ago?

Well I disputed it online, then by phone, then by fax all in two days. I was mortified that my score would impair my chances of getting the new apartment I want so I can have Sophie the dog not have to change homes.... Well, after chatting with the would-be new landlord, he said he didn't like how Equifax printed out their credit reports and asked that I use Experian with my renter's application. So I did at the end of the day. And guess what? My my credit FICO number with them is 704 which puts me in the GOOD listing!!!! GOOD LISTING!

I don't know if it was all that praying or panicking or sending dispute faxes to Equifax, but something worked and I'm not knocking it! Now I have a better FICO number report to attach to my application.

So if you have a low FICO number with one agency's report, dispute it and try again with a different organization.
You never know.
